Builders in Healthcare in Mexico City: visiting Hacking Health

Hacking Health is a Canadian Netowork and Accelerator, that similarly as BiH connects stakeholders from the health sector. Mexican BiH country lead Roxana Ortega has been visiting the Hacking Health Café of the HH Chapter Mexico at Numa in CDMX on Thursday, Aug. 16th.
Location: The meetup took place at wonderful Numa facilities in Roma Sur, CDMX. Indeed a stunning coworking space, well suited for meetups like this, but definitively also for any startup that requires concentrated work combined with networking opportunities.
We had the great pleasure to talk to Luis Royero Meneses, head of the Mexican chapter of Hacking Health. He gave us more insights about the great cooperation and networking platform of HH, that similarly as Builders in Healthcare gives people from healthcare a forum to connect.
Here is a public video that shows Luis‘ and his enthusiasm for networking:
The meetup: talking Health Data in Mexico
The event itself was about data collection, data analytics and the struggle in achieving reliable data especially in México, where it’s due to the federal state organization of the country very difficult to find corresponding data sets.
All three speakers where quite high profile: There presentations followed the base line of the meetup, and where in different presentation styles about data, more precisely about cancer, early recognition and how to lower the mortal rates.
The speakers Dra. Alejandra Palafox, Dra. Elysse Bautista and Econ. Gabriela Márquez were presenting about different cases in that they collect and analyse data. As an example the presentation of Alejandra Palafox was strongly number based about the National Program of Prevention and Control of Cancer (Programa Nacional de Prevención y Control de Cáncer in México). This was particularly interesting as it showed the auditorium the challenges of data gathering in Mexico.
In total we have heard very interesting topics and enjoyed the networking of HH Café México very much. Looking forward to a next event of this type.
